NZ Fire behaviour toolkit
This user-friendly software package incorporates the fuel and fire behaviour models developed by Scion's Rural Fire Research group
The Toolkit is comprised of a number of separate modules, each of which was developed for different purposes and levels of use, including the Fire Behaviour Calculator, Fire Behaviour Worksheet, Firebreak Effectiveness and Fire Intensity/Flame Length calculators, Fire Behaviour Rules of Thumb and Resource Productivity guides
This version incorporates an electronic version of the Guide to New Zealand Fuels. This is a technical guide for selecting the most appropriate fuel type for fire behaviour predictions. It provides users with a better understanding of how the fire behaviour models differ from one another, and will therefore aid in making the correct selection for fire behaviour predictions.
Toolkit requirementsThe NZ Fire Behaviour Toolkit will run on any computer that supports Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0. The .NET Framework is a development and execution environment that can be used by many Windows-based applications. The .NET Framework comes pre-installed on Windows Vista and can be installed on Windows 2000 and Windows XP systems

A number of blank worksheets and worked examples of fireline weather, fire behaviour observation and prediction forms are ready for download.
These sheets were used in the recent Intermediate Fire Behaviour and Fire Behaviour Forecasting Courses. The forms below are also located in the appendices of the orange manual "A Manual for Predicting Fire Behaviour in New Zealand Fuels". This manual helps users predict fire behaviour in New Zealand fuel types and represents the current state of knowledge with respect to predicting fire behaviour in New Zealand.
